Thomas Sandgaard is a Danish-born entrepreneur, inventor, and investor whose career spans medical technology, manufacturing, professional sports, music, and philanthropy. As the Founder and CEO of Sandgaard Capital, he channels his passion for innovation and impact into investments across healthcare, real estate, consumer products, and the arts.

Under his leadership, Sandgaard Capital has invested in and operated ventures across healthcare, technology, consumer products, sports, and entertainment. Notable holdings have included the historic London football club Charlton Athletic FC, the Danish National Championship-winning Odense Bulldogs hockey team, and the award-winning Four Carat Vodka.

He is best known as the Founder and CEO of Zynex (NASDAQ: ZYXI), a leading U.S. medical device company that has helped over 1 million people manage pain through noninvasive electrotherapy. His work in healthcare has earned recognition for both innovation and social contribution.

Beyond business, Thomas is the Founder of the Sandgaard Foundation, which is dedicated to fighting the opioid crisis through awareness, education, and access to life-saving overdose reversal medication. The Foundation partners with national organizations to expand harm-reduction programs and drive meaningful social change.

Thomas is the Founder and President of the Sandgaard Foundation. The Sandgaard Foundation seeks to address the opioid epidemic by helping to fund initiatives that save lives from opioid overdose, help people escape the cycle of relapse, and support victims and their families.

Recent grantees include Yale University, The Voices Project, Recovery Fest, Mobilize Recovery, and The Colorado Naloxone Project.

Thomas is the Founder and Chairman of Zynex Inc. Zynex Inc. is a publicly-traded medical device company that he founded in 1996 (NASDAQ: ZYXI).

Zynex Inc. engineers, manufactures, markets, and sells its own design of medical devices in three subsidiaries.

  • Zynex Medical™ is a provider of electrotherapy products for home use.

  • Zynex Monitoring Solutions™ develops products for cardiac monitoring for use in hospitals.

  • Zynex NeuroDiagnostics™ develops devices for EMG and EEG diagnostic purposes in the neurology clinic markets.

Thomas has an in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry and is the driving force behind Zynex’s strategy and growth.

BACKGROUND

Thomas previously held senior management positions with companies such as ITT, Siemens, GN Danavox, Dataco, and Philips. Most of his work has been focused on the areas of international sales and distribution, technology transfers, mergers, and marketing management in the semiconductor, telecommunications, data communications, and medical equipment industries. He has a degree in electric engineering from Denmark’s Odense University of Engineering and an MBA from Copenhagen Business School.

Thomas was born in Denmark, moved to the United States in 1996, and became a U.S. citizen in February of 2018. Before starting Zynex Inc., Thomas worked in recording studios, organized large venue concerts, and played in numerous rock bands. Thomas is currently the lead guitarist of his band, Sandgaard, which includes lead singer, Robert Mason (of Warrant), and bass guitarist, Rich Ross (of the Freddy Jones Band).
